Irma-Kaarina is Assocaite Professor of English/TESOL at the Lebanese American University Byblos campus in Lebanon. She received her PhD in Applied Linguistics/TESOL from the University of Leicester, UK, and her M.Ed. from the University of Virgina Curry School of Education. She has published book chapters and journal articles on children's language learning and the use of children's literature in the language classroom. She has presented numerous papers in international conferences and conducted hundreds of hours of teacher development workshops. In 1998, she received the Mary Finocchiaro Award for Excellence in the the Development of Pedagogical Materials from TESOL for her Caring Kids series. She has authored primary school ELT texts for the Lebanese Ministry of Education and the UNRWA Education Program in Lebanon.
