Robin Martin is a Professor of Organisational Psychology at Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK. He was previously on the faculties of the Universities of Aston, Queensland, Cardiff, Swansea and Sheffield. He obtained his PhD from The Open University in 1986. He has held a number of senior research positions including; Research Programme Director, Leadership Studies (Aston); Director, Centre for Organisational Psychology (Queensland), and Associate Director, Applied Behavioural Unit (Swansea). His research is at the intersection of social and organisational psychology and focuses on the areas of workplace leadership and development, motivation, team working and attitude change. He has published over 130 articles in book chapters and scientific journals. He is on the editorial boards of many leading journals and is a co-editor of a special issue of 'Relationship-based leadership' for the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology (2020). He has secured research funding from many sources including; Australian Research Council, Canadian Air Force; and, Economic and Social Research Council. He has considerable experience of designing and delivering leadership training progammes to many organisations around the world. Recent clients include Audi, BAE systems, Bentley, BUPA, Royal Mail, Sellafield, T-systems. For many years he was responsible for the leadership theme in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme to support leaders of high-growth small businesses and social enterprises across the West Midlands, UK.
