Publication Guidelines

Articles are accepted from authors with interesting and important information about the effective practice of distance teaching and learning. No page costs are charged authors, nor are stipends paid. Two copies of the issue with the author’s article will be provided. Reprints will also be available.

  1. Manuscripts should be written in Microsoft Word, saved as a .doc file or docx file, and sent using email. Remember, Distance Learning journal is printed black and white with no color.
  2. Double space the entire manuscript. Use 12-point Times New Roman font.
  3. Margins – 1” on all sides. The most recent edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association should be followed.
  4. Do not use page numbers, or embedded commands. Documents that have embedded commands will be returned.
  5. Include a cover sheet with the paper’s title and with the names, affiliations, telephone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses of all authors. High resolution professional photographs of all authors should be included as separate files and should have a file size larger than 500kb.
  6. Submit the paper via email attachment that is clearly marked. The name of the manuscript file should reference the author. Submissions should be sent marked ATTENTION Distance Learning submission.

The Manuscript

Word Processor Format
Manuscripts should be written in Microsoft Word.

Length
There is no page length. The average manuscript is between 3,000-5,000 words.

Text
Regular text: 12-point TNR, left justified.

Do not type section headings or titles in all-caps, only capitalize the first letter in each word of a title. Allow one line of space before and after each heading. Indent, 0.5”, the first sentence of each paragraph.

Figures and Tables
Figures and tables should fit width 6 ½” and should be sent as separate files.

Page Numbering
Do not include or refer to any page numbers in your manuscript.

Graphics
We encourage you to use visuals – pictures, graphics, figures, charts – to help explain your article.

  • Graphics images (.jpg) should be included in separate files.
  • Graphic images should be 300 dpi, and at least 500 kb in size.
  • Graphics/visuals should be suitable for publication in a journal printed in Black and White, not color.

Submit the following by email:

  • Cover sheet with author information listed above.
  • 3-5000 word manuscript written using MS Word.
  • Professional photograph(s) of each author that are at least 500 kb.
  • Graphics, if included, of 300 dpi and a file size of 500 kb.
