Expanding the already-existing conversation on socially just leadership education, Committing to Action amplifies diverse voices and lived experiences through stories and examples of how to improve engagement and reduce barriers to leadership learning for members of diverse populations. As our world continues to contend with wicked problems rooted in social injustice, the inability of modern-day leaders to succeed is showcased everywhere. Never has the demand for thoughtful, innovative, and equitable leadership been more pronounced, nor the consequences for failing to meets these demands been more dire.
Committing to Action provides evidence of socially just leadership learning’s potential for positive and sustainable change. These chapters are, individually and collectively, substantial starting points for social justice-oriented leadership educators, where socially just leadership education is explained and explored. Full of empowering recommendations, helpful suggestions, and sources of light for darker moments, this book provides critical hope for new and returning socially just leadership educators. The path toward a brighter tomorrow is paved only by sharing the best of what each of us has to offer; this text is a meaningful step on that journey.
