Lucy K. Spence
University of South Carolina
I am an Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina where I teach in the Language & Literacy Masters and Ph.D. programs. Previously, I worked as an elementary school teacher in Arizona. I became interested in teaching writing to children while an undergraduate at Grand Canyon University. This interest continued throughout my education and teaching career. I now teach classes such as Teaching Reading and Writing to ESOL Learenrs and I direct the Santee Wateree Writing Project, where I work with teachers on their writing and teaching. I have a blog space for teachers to discuss student writing at generousreading.org.
