Excursions in Criticality: Education, Cultural Studies and Politics
A unique new book series, Excursions in Criticality: Education, Cultural Studies and Politics has been specifically created to engage scholars, students, and leaders by rethinking traditional models of educational texts. Immersed in criticality, the series seeks manuscripts that encourage politicized and social theory informed texts. Moving from a traditional and 8-10 edition education textbook, Excursions takes us from the pedagogical mundane to volumes which insist upon equity, diversity, culture, language, inclusion, dissent, critical critique, and non-Western knowledges. The series is devoted to the notion of education creating scholars in contrast to the creation of students absorbing and memorizing the mundane. In the footsteps of Apple, Britzman, DiAngelo, Freire, Greene, Giroux, hooks, Kincheloe, McLaren, and many others, Excursions in Criticality seeks to educate the next generation of critical pedagogues. This invigorating and unique new series allows both teachers and students to reach for more: to equitably guide next generations to demand education for social justice, diversity, and inclusion. Excursions has been created to facilitate an energetic change, to introduce dangerous knowledges, and to uncover the hidden curricula of past generations.
